Excellence In Employee Engagement Award 2020

Excellence in Employee Engagement Award

040 BQF UK Excellence Awards 2020 - Excellence in Employee Engagement Award

It is often said by organisations that “people are our greatest asset”. It’s easy to say but less easy to demonstrate in practice. Putting people at the heart of organisations is important. How that is achieved can be through many different and connected approaches.

Why apply?

Give your teams a huge pat on the back and enter this award. Share your successful employee engagement story and help others to make their employees happy. It’s an opportunity to showcase your successes and signify the quality of your business.

Who should apply?

This award welcomes entries from those organisations that have developed and implemented approaches and initiatives which have achieved improved levels of employee engagement. These could be discrete projects or organisational-wide programmes. They could involve development programmes, ideas generation schemes, wellbeing and/or diversity and inclusion, as examples.

How to apply?

Entry is simple – by completion of an online application form and submission of supporting evidence.

Application Criteria

The judges will be looking for organisations that have demonstrated how they harness the talents and creativity of their people to make their organisation more productive and a better place to work. Judges will be keen to see projects and initiatives which you consider demonstrate excellence in its planning and/or its implementation which are supported by positive results.

Shaun Knights MSc

Head of Quality and Continuous Improvement at Callaly

Shaun Knight

“I have over 25 years of experience in quality across telecoms, automotive and medical device sectors and has held senior roles in multi-national corporations such as Siemens Healthineers and Philips AVENT. I am currently employed as Head of Quality and Continuous Improvement for a London based start-up business, Callaly. My career has predominately been in Quality and Operational Excellence roles, within manufacturing and R&D.

Some of my most notable achievements include taking the Siemens Heathineers sites in Sudbury, UK to EFQM R4E 5 star within 3 years, and delivering £m’s of cost saving through the Lean 6 Sigma program I introduced to this business from scratch. In my current role I introduced an ISO9001 based Quality Management System from the ground up, and moving forwards will be bringing a continuous improvement program to the business during 2020.

Throughout my career, I have assessed for the UK EFQM Excellence awards and the European EFQM awards. I was also invited to present for Siemens at the AME Conference in Dallas, US in 2016. I am also extremely passionate about encouraging the next generation of quality and op-ex leaders and has had many opportunities to talk to High School and College students in assembly halls and lecture theatres through my role as a STEM ambassador, as well as judging for the Lego robotics competition at Duxford. I currently have close ongoing collaboration with Cambridge Institute for Manufacturing and Herriot Watt University in Edinburgh.

As far as my own education is concerned, I am certified in Lean 6 Sigma Master Black Belt (certified through BQF and Philips), a qualified FDA and ISO13485 Lead Auditor, qualified EFQM assessor and I hold an MSc in Automotive Engineering Design, Manufacture and Management.”
