Creating Engaging Teams: Thriving in a world of constant change
Effective team working has never been more important. Delayering of organisations, increased remote and 24/7 working, reduced resources and increased demands are a stark reality. This means we must ensure that all of our teams are as resilient, self-sufficient, effective and engaged as possible. INTEGRATING Silos: Move towards a Collective Leadership approach
Keen to find out how you can implement a more contemporary, transformative leadership approach and help promote organisational agility in a VUCA world? Uzma and Catherine will be discussing how the application of psychological approaches can help deliver tangible benefits and enhance the effectiveness of leadership practices in complex, interdependent organisations. Uzma will be drawing evidence from her MSc research focus on healthcare leadership. Catherine will be sharing her findings of over 20 years of applied practitioner research and practices for working with transitions in organisations. If that wasn’t enough, they will be providing a key focus on effective Transition Leadership practices including core capabilities. In particular, identifying how mindsets and personality traits linked to EI competencies can play a key part in explaining certain leadership styles.

Leading Sustainable Change from within your Organisation
Leaders across industries are continually challenged with devising effective strategies that deliver sustainable change and business transformation. Whether this is a digital transformation programme, introducing a new culture, new processes and ways of working or a restructure following a merger, acquisition or crisis – all too often organisations set out with a vision of what their ambition and goals are without considering the change in behaviour that is required of people.
In this session, Silke shares how combining organisational network analysis with behavioural science research and best practice in change management, social alignment and internal communication can help you realise effective and sustainable change and digital transformation.
This session will explore:
Mission: Engagement is an interactive event where participants learn, through experience, the best practices in Team Engagement from Military Operations.
This session starts with a keynote talk on the principles of team engagement before you are placed in the shoes of Military Officers to plan and brief a simulated Military Mission as a team. It is during this simulation that the Mission: Engagement techniques come to the fore, with lives depending on you and under time pressure you will have to work as a team to achieve your Mission.
On completion of the exercise the team come together and reflect to draw out the important lessons learnt from the exercise, carrying out the important Mission Debrief. The debrief is critical, as this is how high performance teams reach and stay at the top of their game, identifying lessons learnt which can and must be fed back into future planning cycles.

Leadership in a VUCA world
This new BQF initiative was aimed at getting member organisations to investigate issues which companies, irrespective of sector or size, were experiencing.
“Helping Leaders respond to VUCA” provided a unique opportunity for the group to investigate and challenge how leaders experience the VUCA environment and how their organisational agility impacted their ability to communicate effectively.
We analysed how leaders could be successful when challenged in this area and whether BAU as an organisational state of operation still exists. We used key resource documents as part of our analysis and investigation.
We challenged whether the effects of VUCA were always negative and looked at how to respond to different scenarios, leader characteristics and the chemistry of the organisation and how this impacted successful or negative outcomes.
Being an authentic leader- everyday
Acting with integrity and fairness in all decision making and being open and honest builds trust. Authentic leaders are consistent in their practice, putting professional interest before personal gain. Institute of Leadership & Management research shows that authentic leaders can be identified by what they do not do as much as by what they do. Kate Cooper shares some of the findings of this research revealing what we really think about the authenticity of the leaders and managers we work with.

Selecting and developing tomorrow’s leaders – myths and mistakes
Based on five years of research into identifying and measuring talent and potential, Deborah will question some commonly held assumptions around leadership potential, and will share a few of the mistakes experienced and observed. The session will be interactive as participants are invited to challenge the challenges and explore concepts such as inspirational leadership, executive presence, winning attitude and values. Participants will experience using the Zircon model of talent assessment to examine their own leadership approach and talent. The session will overall take a strengths based approach.

The world around us is getting crazier. We’re working in a 24/7 environment and keeping our performance on track and staying balanced can be a challenge. Natasha’s approach to improving organisational performance is refreshing. That’s because it starts with you and how conscious you are. And it’s through this Conscious Leadership that we can create vibrant, engaged and flourishing workplaces that get the best from our teams. Before we can effectively lead others, we have to understand ourselves first. We need to be awake. We need resilience, and we need a growth mindset. Natasha will explain the five foundations of Conscious Leadership, what it means for the performance of your organisation, and what is means for you. And your wellbeing. With a peppering of neuroscience, talk of ‘human skills’, and encouragement to become more ‘conscious’, Natasha will guide you through a new approach to leadership through wellbeing.
