Business Model Innovation

A new study by IBM of 765 CEOs throws some interesting light on the innovation challenge. Key findings are:
1. Business model innovation matters.
2. External collaboration is essential.
3. Innovation has to be led from the top.
CEOs believe that collaboration is essential but there is a problem. Collaboration aspirations were much higher than implementations. Only half the CEOs thought they were collaborating moderately well.
Why is collaboration so hard? The report says that it is to do with skills, expertise and serious intent.

What is your experience on collaborating for innovation? Is it a subject that we should address at a BQF meeting?
