Copyright and Policy On Intellectual Property

The EFQM has undertaken a major review of its policy on intellectual property as part of the Model development Process. It is the EFQM's intention to encourage the widespread use of the Model within companies and organisations through licensing the use of its materials.

Name

The name of the Model is the EFQM Excellence Model, sometimes known as the Business Excellence Model:

"9 Box Model"

Our members may use the nine box picture, without charge, provided the correct acknowledgement is given.

The Criteria and Criteria Parts

Members may communicate and promote the 9 criteria and 32 criteria parts without charge, providing that attribution is made to the copyright being the property of the EFQM. The insertion in the text "1999 EFQM" is required for this purpose on each page.

Guidance Points

The use of the "guidance points", the RADAR scoring matrix or the Pathfinder card are subject to a copyright charge, which has now been finalised. The process is self administered and will be based on input such as your membership status, the intended use of the material (e.g. for promotional purposes or for sale) and potential volumes.
