The Inaugural Lean Six Sigma Academy Awards for Lean Six
Sigma Improvement Projects
The winners were announced at the Lean Six Sigma Academy Annual Conference on 9 December 2008.
The Awards seek to recognise successful improvement projects using Lean Six
Sigma.
Award Finalists:
- Colliers Motor Group
- Department for Work & Pensions
- Ringway/Worcestershire CC
- Royal Bank of Scotland
- Royal Mail
- Sellafield
- Siemens IT Solutions & Service
- Tube Lines
There are three broad Award Categories for teams or individuals from:
- Large Commercial Organisation (>250 employees)
- Public Sector
- Small Enterprise (<250 employees)
There are three main criteria used in assessing award applicants:
- Understanding the problem
- Applying the right Lean and/or Six Sigma tools
- Achieving bottom line results
A slide show provides the opportunity to present a 'storyboard'
describing the project. Where the DMAIC framework has been used
applicants might wish to allocate one or two slides to describe the key
aspects of these phases. Alternatively applicants might wish to
present their projects in line with the above criteria or in some other way
that is easy for the judging panel to follow.
Short listed candidates will be invited to present their projects to
the Academy Judging Panel, leading to the identification of three finalists.
Finalists will then be asked to present their projects at the Lean Six Sigma
Academy's Annual Conference on the 9th December when the winners will be
announced.
